ANZAC Day March

We were fortunate to have excellent weather for this year’s ANZAC Day, with clear skies and mild conditions throughout the morning.

A strong contingent of members and families took part in the march, stepping out to the steady beat of the drum.

The crowd lining the route from Collins Street to the steps of the Shrine of Remembrance was highly supportive of SASR, which was felt by all who marched.

SAS Commemorative Service

The SAS Commemorative Service at the SAS Tree, Shrine of Remembrance, had a great turn out with approximately 70 members and family attending.

From part of the service that was led by Trav Holland, President ASASA (VIC):

“On this day, we honour service across generations of SASR. We remember those who did not return, and we recognise the enduring bonds forged through our shared experience in demanding and often unforgiving environments. Those bonds of mateship are the foundation of our Regiment and of our Association.

Anzac Day can be uplifting, but it can also be confronting. For some, it is a day of grief as much as pride. It is a time to check in on mates, to include families, and to remember those who carry physical or unseen wounds. Look out for one another. Offer and accept support when it is needed.

Our departed comrades, lost in combat, in training, and in the years that followed their service, and the women and families who stood beside them, are not forgotten. May they all rest proudly in the knowledge of their achievement, their service and their sacrifice. And may we, and those who follow us, prove worthy of their sacrifice and the legacy they have left.

SAS Reunion – The Kelvin Club

Following the service, members and families gathered at The Kelvin Club. It was an excellent opportunity to reconnect, share stories, and spend time together in a relaxed setting.

The carvery lunch upstairs in the Ballroom was very well received by all, and will be a welcome addition to the format next year too.

It was great to see members drop in during the afternoon who had been unable to attend the march or the service.
