The Blackhawk Memorial Service saw a dozen members come together, with some members driving 2 hours to be there.

The service was held at the “SASR Tree” at the Shrine of Remembrance to commemorate the 15 men from SASR, and the 3 men from 5th Aviation Regiment, who died when two Australian Army Black Hawk helicopters collided during Counter Terrorism training at Fire Support Base Barbara in the Townsville Field Training Area on 12 June 1996.

The service was followed by a coffee catch-up at the cafe inside the Shrine of Remembrance.
