Overview

We’re excited to bring a fresh and adventurous twist to the local swimming calendar with ASASA’s community swim event, “SAS: Swim from the Sea”!

Set against the stunning backdrop of Sorrento or Point Nepean, and partnering with Searoad Ferries, this event offers an exhilarating swim from one of Searoad Ferries’ iconic vessels.

Event Concept:

“SAS: Swim from the Sea” combines the thrill of an open-water swim with the distinctive adventure of starting your swim directly from a ferry. This event will not only challenge participants but also provide a memorable experience with several engaging elements:

  • Ferry Start: Participants will board the ferry, enjoy the ride, and then take the plunge into the water for an exciting swim.
  • Adventure Themes: For those seeking an extra challenge, we’re exploring the possibility of adding a special forces-inspired theme, offering both hardcore and beginner swim options. Examples include high entry from the ferry, high entry from a helicopter, obstacle course on the beach etc.
  • Novelty Night Swim: We’re considering the inclusion of a night swim to add a touch of novelty and excitement, though safety and timing will be carefully considered.

Supporting Our Veterans:

This event is not just about swimming; it’s about supporting and celebrating our veterans.

ASASA (VIC) is proud to be a veteran-led not-for-profit association, and we invite veterans to join us in this community celebration. Your participation not only demonstrates resilience and camaraderie but also highlights the strength and spirit of those who have served our nation.

  • Encouraging Veterans to Participate: We warmly welcome veterans to take part in this unique swim, embracing the opportunity to challenge themselves in a supportive and invigorating environment.
  • Supporting Veterans: By participating in “SAS: Swim from the Sea,” you’ll be directly supporting the ASASA, a veteran-led not-for-profit association dedicated to making a positive impact on Australian SAS veterans and their families.
  • Inviting First Responders: First responders are encouraged to join, showcasing their strength and endurance while enjoying a meaningful community event.
