Kick-off 2025 Lunch & Surfing Day
Details:
The Kick-off 2025 Lunch and inaugural Surfing Day is a great time to catch up after a busy Christmas and New Year period, and to meet new members and their families.
Even if you do not surf, make sure you still come along to catch up, cheer on those who get out on the waves, and even get a beginner’s surf lesson.
URBNSURF provides ocean-like waves in an authentic, safe and controlled environment, for all ages and abilities.
There are also outdoor hot tubs, cabanas, lawns and a restaurant with outdoor terrace to be enjoyed.
Who:
All former and current members of SASR (both members and non-members of the ASASA), their spouses, families and friends.
Time:
10.30am Meet and greet.
3.00pm Finish (approx.).
URBN SURF Wave Schedule:
If you book in for a surf session, it is recommended that you arrive at least 45 minutes ahead of your session to allow plenty of time to check in, get your gear, and get ready for your surf.
10.00am – 11.00am Intermediate
11.00am – 12.00pm Cruiser
12.00pm – 1.00pm Intermediate
1.00pm – 2.00pm Progressive Turns
2.00pm – 3.00pm Advanced Turns

Wave Types
Cruiser
A gentle take off and smallest surf experience point break wave. Small waves for fun and gentle environment for catching green faced gentle waves.

Progressive Turns
A level up from Cruiser with a gradually steeper take off, and fun carvable pockets. Small to medium waves with enough power to enjoy and generate speed for fun turns.

Intermediate
A step up from Progressive Turns, offering a range of sections to perform manoeuvres. An intermediate wave for fun and performance.

Advanced Turns
A level up from Intermediate with a series of steep sections, allowing surfers to generate speed and execute major manoeuvres. High performance waves providing challenge and performance opportunities.

URBN SURF Lessons:
For those who cannot surf and would like to take a lesson on the day, there are 90 minute Beginner Learn to Surf Lessons on offer.
The lesson includes wetsuit and softboard hire, 30 minutes of land-based training and 60 minutes in the water with their coaches.
09.30am – 11.00am Beginner (13 years+)
10.30am – 12.00pm Beginner (all ages)
11.30am – 1.00pm Beginner (13 years+)
Safety:
On arrival, you need to register for a wristband, complete a waiver, and watch the safety video, which can take around 10-15 minutes.
You can also complete the waiver online before arrival.
Helmets are free and available for everyone.
Surfer Priority:
Surfer priority (or right of way) is managed with a strict (but fair) one-at-a-time system – wait your turn, and when your wave comes, it’s yours.
Snaking (paddling inside another surfer to “steal” their spot) and dropping in (taking off on another surfer’s wave) is not permitted.
Surfing Equipment:
If you do not have gear, you can hire surf boards including softboards, shortboards, longboards and bodyboards, as well as wetsuits and surf accessories.
Changerooms:
URBNSURF has changerooms with showers and free locker hire.
Food:
Restaurant and snacks available on site. Meals and drinks at member’s expense.
Outside food and beverages are generally not permitted.
You are not permitted to bring any of the following onto site:
Esky / Ice Cooler
Drinks over 600 ml
Glassware or knives
Alcohol
Cost:
If you are not surfing, you will need to purchase a Spectator Pass ($5) on arrival. This will give you entry to URBN SURF and access to the hot tubs and other facilities (other than the surfing).
Surfing, food and drinks at member’s expense.
